Cartagena

This was our first visit to the South America continent, so it’s all new.  Cartagena is a very large city, with a mix of new and old buildings.  We were in sport only for 5 hours and had organised a private tour again for this port.  Our first stop was the La Popa, which is the site an old monastery on top of a hill very near the city so it has magnificent panoramic views over the city.  We then visited the Fortress of San Felipe, the markets and went for a walk through the old town.  We ended up by making our way back to the ship going through the neighbourhoods of Bocagrande, Getsemani and Manga.   We found Cartagena an extremely dynamic city not at all what we had expected.
