Due to skipping Halifax we arrived in New
York the evening before we were due to.
As this was our first American port we had the immigration process to
get through. This was not an easy
process, as it could not be finalised until all passengers were off the ship
and a clean sweep was done, this meant that no passenger could get back on
until all 1960 or so passengers were off and processed and this wasn’t until
after midnight. We decided to make the
best of the 4 hour wait and headed straight up 50th Ave into Time
Square stopping along the way for something to eat and of course a drink or
two. The whole world was in Time Square
as it was Friday night, it was so busy and everyone seemed to be going the
wrong way, but when we turned around they were still going the wrong way. Eventually we got back to the ship about
12.30am and straight to bed as we were exhausted.
Saturday David went off to find a barbers
shop that we had spotted last night as he was in desperate need of a haircut
and he also picked up our tickets for tonight’s show, I decided to stay on
board to give my ankle a bit of a rest.
We had booked our tickets for Les Miserables a couple of months ago and
were both looking forward to seeing the show, I must say it was wonderful the
best show I think I have ever seen, part of that may have been the fact that
there is a real buzz around Broadway and it would be hard not to enjoy a show
there. When we came out from the theatre
you could barely move for the amount of people.
We slowly made our way back to the ship.
Sunday was an easy day walk up to Central
Park and the area surrounding it and then back to the ship for sailaway on the
back deck.
