Dubai

After quite a comfortable flight we arrived in Dubai at 7am in the morning.
I must say that after flying Premium Economy with Qantas I’m not sure whether we can go back to economy.  The seats were far more comfortable, they were wider and there was far more legroom, my knees usually touch the seat in front which is extremely uncomfortable on such long flights.  With Premium Economy I had a good 4-5 inches to spare so could stretch out a bit.  All in all made a much more enjoyable trip.  Service was fantastic from check-in right through to getting off in Dubai; even the food wasn’t too bad.

We arrived at our hotel the Le Meridian Dubai, we have stayed here before, they have done quite a lot since we were last here 8 years ago, and we were lucky enough to get a room in the new Royal Club wing, and as David would say it is  “Sheer luxury”.

David had fun in the
massage chair in our room
David was intriged by the TV in the mirror in the bathroom.

The one thing we wanted to do while here in Dubai was to visit the Burg Khalifa (tallest building in the World) which is located in the Dubai Mall (largest shopping mall in the World), not wanting to waste the day we made our way there using the Metro, so easy only 2 lines so couldn’t go wrong.

Even the bus shelters are air-conditioned.
After having eggs benny for breckie we set of again by the Metro to the Gold Souk and then walked to the Spice Souk.  And before David makes an issue of it:  YES I got my currency conversion extremely wrong when buying some things in the souk (not gold), and paid far more than I had expected or really wanted to, we all make mistakes but I don’t think David is about to let me live this one down in a hurry.  When we got back to the hotel we spent the afternoon by the pool, before spending the evening in the lounge enjoying a few G & T’s.

Roof top pool, one of 5 at the hotel.
Afternoon tea.

Overall Dubai is fine for a quick stop over, extremely hot  though yesterday was 42c & today 45c.   Next stop the UK.
